Lara van Heerden, an enthusiastic and passionate physiotherapist, is the latest addition to the Compass Health team.
Her years leading an active lifestyle and training as a provincial Highjumper has made her a familiar face amongst the Durban sports scene, although there were many highs, this also led her to spending time with the Physiotherapist, which ignited her passion to pursue a career in Physiotherapy.

Lara made herself well-known amongst the Durban Club Rugby scene whilst completing her physiotherapy degree at the University of Kwa Zulu Natal. After completing her year of community service at Manguzi hospital she went on to join a multidisciplinary team and became the physiotherapist for Varsity College Rugby team.

Since having qualified as a physiotherapist she has gone on to work in a chronic neck and back clinic where she treats both acute and chronic back pain, but also treats various conditions of the different joints, chest conditions as well as headaches, which she has a special interest in. These can be debilitating and disrupt ones day and productivity.

Both headaches and neck/back pain have become more prevalent these days as we spend more time sitting when our bodies were designed to move, that’s why it is important to have a healthy balance between work and being active.

She strongly believes in a holistic approach to treat her patients. Her aim has been and will always be to help people live a fully functional life that is as pain-free as possible.
