My name is Michael Robson but known by everyone as “Bud”. I have lived and grown up in Durban my whole life and would consider myself a true ‘Durbanite’. I have no plans of ever leaving its golden sandy shores.

I attended Glenwood High School in Durban till matric, participating in various sporting codes throughout my time there and achieving sporting honours. I then qualified from the Durban University of Technology with a Master’s Degree in Chiropractic.

I performed my Master’s research on the beneficial effects of chiropractic manipulation performed to the spine. The results showed that every participant had an increased range of motion and sporting performance after just one chiropractic treatment.

I have been involved in a multidisciplinary team of Biokineticists, Chiropractors, Physiotherapists and Personal Trainers for Durban Collegians Rugby Club since 2016 as well as the Western Cape Woman’s Senior Hockey teams in 2018.

I am part of the Compass Health Centre team, currently based in Durban North at Northwood Sports Medicine Centre and in Umhlanga at Off The Grid Athletic.

My interest for the human body and nervous system began at a young age.

My grandfather was involved in Orthotics for twenty years, which is the application of external medical devices to modify the function and structure of the skeletal and nervous system. I always had a fond interest in following him around and was exposed to various muscle, joint and neurological conditions at a young age.

Being human, I also had my fair share of injuries, migraines and sciatica being the worst. I often had joint and muscle pain, which left me bouncing around to various medical professionals seeking pain relief. I believed that I would grow old and end up with severe osteoarthritis in my body. This constant stress caused me to lose hope in ever being able to keep active as I grew older.

One day I stumbled across a Chiropractor in Durban North which changed my life. Through holistic chiropractic treatments and exercise programs, my headaches and back pain was relieved. I was able to return to daily life without the stress of pain stopping me from doing what I loved.

This exposure to chiropractic is what I needed to pursue a career in it. My passion for health and wellness was able to be combined daily in the form of holistic chiropractic care.
In my diversified practice I aim to treat the underlying cause of the injury or disease and not just the symptom of pain. I combine various joint and muscle tests along with posture assessment to evaluate the body for the source of pain and then provide education to the patient on how we will move forward in treating the diagnosed condition.

I incorporate many modalities when the joints and muscles of the body. I combine chiropractic adjustments, soft tissue therapy and rehabilitation (strength and body weight exercises) to provide holistic healthcare. Each patient gets individualised treatment and assessment as no two people are the same. Whether sitting at the office from nine till five or an elite athlete, you will get individualised care.

Chiropractors are known to treat many spinal conditions such as migraines, headaches, lower back pain, sciatica, and disc injury. Chiropractors also treat extremity conditions such as tennis elbow, shoulder pain, knee pain and hip pain. Often the sources of this pain can be traced back to the spine itself.

It is important to look after our spine as we only have ONE of those!!!
